My Father and I have been treating Lyme and its co-infections for a number of years now. I would say that approximately half of my patients have either lyme and/or one or a number of its co-infections. I use Applied Kinesiology along with lab work from IgeneX labs to determine and confirm the diagnosis of Lyme in many of my patients. (http://www.igenex.com/Website/) I find that the usual tests done at the hospitals are not accurate. On many occasions I have had patients get tested at the hospital with negative tests but when tested by igenex their tests results are positive which is congruent with my diagnosis. (http://www.townsendletter.com/July2013/novellab0713.html)
I have seen lyme manifest in many ways causing a wide variety of symptoms. I have seen it misdiagnosed as dermatomyositis (this was seen in a 10 year old girl that was carried into my office on the first visit because she was not strong enough to walk) and multiple sclerosis (causing blindness and neurological issues). I have seen it cause unexplained fevers, fatigue, hair loss, heart palpitations, nausea, bladder dysfunction, cystitis, joint/muscle pain, swelling, headaches, dizziness (to the point the patient was taking 6 Valium a day to function), motion sickness, memory loss, poor short term memory, mood swings, depression, seizures etc. (http://www.lymediseaseassociation.org/images/NewDirectory/Resources/Printables/SymptomList_2013.pdf) I have also been a victim of this disease which caused a headache that lasted for half a week and felt like someone was squeezing my head with a vice every time I moved, even an inch.
As you know this is a very complex disease. I believe that Lyme can be transmitted not only by a tick but also from mosquito bites and other insects. http://www.mlda.org/LymeCoInfections/Lyme/FactSheet.aspx. One of the reasons this disease is so complex and can stay around in a person’s body for months to years, is due to the biofilm or protein coating it has developed through mutation. This biofilm hides it from our immune systems and does not allow us to fight it off, simply because the body doesn’t recognize it is there. http://lymedisease.org/news/hardscienceonlyme/the-rest-of-the-story-trials-and-tribulations-of-getting-borrelia-biofilms-acccepted-for-publication.html. I believe that this biofilm can be broken down with highly potent natural plant enzymes. Once the enzymes do their work, then the immune system will then start to fight Lyme and its co-infections. Another issue is that I find that sometimes people can be allergic to Lyme and its co-infections. If this happens, the immune system does not want to try to fight off the infection. This can be fixed through an allergy desensitization technique I use that can reverse these allergies so that a person is no longer allergic to the infection. Once the biofilm and allergies are dealt with, then I can start to treat the infections themselves. I use a red/violet cold laser or low level light therapy, herbs and homeopathic remedies to support the immune system to fight the infections. This is when people start to get better. Lyme can also be tied in with heavy metal toxicities, dental issues, parasites, molds and fungus and other things.
